TECHNIQUE for DOC’S BEST™ Cement with Activated Copper

Core build up:

We do not advocate pulpal exposure for the sake of total decay removal above the pulpal chambers of vital teeth. We choose  to therapeutically treat small amounts of decay by destroying the Biofilm matrix. We consider Biofilm destruction and inactivation to be an essential part of therapy for dental caries.

Easy Steps:

  1. Place 1 scoop of DOC’S BEST™  Red or White Cement (powder only) in a dappen dish. Drop enough COPALITE® Varnish into powder (about 4 drops) to make a slurry mix. Quickly paint the dentin with an applicator brush or sponge. There should be a visible shiny pink/red layer once the COPALITE® varnish dries. Five coats is optimal coverage.
  2. Mix a thick mix of the DOC’S BEST Cement, load into a CENTRIX® Disposable Tube & Plug, and express into the cavity as a base cover. If base is on enamel, remove excess with a high speed bur.
  3. Etch the enamel.
  4. Place a layer of SNAPBOND® adhesive and light cure. Or place a  glass ionomer cement.

**When extreme tooth destruction has occurred and a very strong core build up is required:

  1. On a mixing pad, place equal amounts of A & B (self-cure composite), or any light cure composite and a 1/4 scoop of the Red Cement. Mix thoroughly together and place in the cavity as a core build up. The copper cement will prevent bacteria infiltration into the composite build-up.
  2. Prep the composite to receive the restoration, crown or gold inlay.
  3. Cement the final restoration with either the DOC’S BEST™ Red or White Cements for protection against both primary and secondary decay.

The Red Cement should be blended with:

COPALITE® Varnish is essential for protecting the biological functioning of dentinal tubuli

Dycal®-Dentsply Caulk may be brushed on COPALITE® Varnish, mix 1/4 scoop powder with Dycal.

SnapBond®- one step bond and desensitizer is recommended for strong enamel bonds

Self-Curing Composite may be preferable when mixing with copper powders as light penetration can be retarded by metallic salts.

The White Cement can be blended with:

COPALITE® Varnish

Dycal®- Dentsply Caulk

Very small amounts can be mixed with  Self -Curing composite
